One Year Anniversary

I am the luckiest guy ever! I am married to the most wonderful woman and on Saturday, May 20, we spend our anniversary together at the Nicollet Island Inn in Minneapolis. We had a fantastic dinner, lobster and a New York strip steak, and went on a horse drawn carriage ride. The next morning we woke up and had the inn's famous Sunday brunch. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

I walked around before brunch and took a few pictures of downtown/St. Anthony main area.

Kristin's Law School Graduation!

I am so proud of my wife! She worked her butt off for the past three years and finished law school this past weekend. Our friends and family were all around to help us celebrate her accomplishment. Here are a few photos from the big day.

I had to spoil her a little bit in the morning with some gifts

After the ceremony Ron and Deb hosted an awesome graduation party for Kristin. The weather was perfect along with the food and drinks.

Michael and Dad where not able to make it to the ceremony because they were driving back from Texas where Mike finished his first year of undergraduate studies.

Kristin starts her first "real" job October 8th at Deloitte where she will be working as a tax consultant.

Schools out for EVER

So what have I been up to in May? A lot of celebrating! I finished law school and am officially, Kristin Yahnke, J.D. :) The last three years went by so fast! I can not say enough great things about the University of St. Thomas School of Law. It was the most amazing experience and I made the best of friends.

Tyler was gone turkey hunting for most of the week that I finished. He was on break after his finals (I'm sure he will have a post about this later) and he is now officially a D4 - 4th year dental student. Although I missed him, it gave me a quiet house to study for my last finals. Some of my classmates and I finished our last final EVER by 10:30 a.m. on a Wednesday morning and felt that celebratory drinks were in order.  We headed over to Eli's and enjoyed some bloody marys.  Afterwards, I headed home to tidy up a little before some of my high school friends arrived.  My friend, Sara, had arranged a girls night out to the Twins game and we decided to make fajitas at my place first.  Marie and Britt also surprised me with champagne to celebrate me being done FINALLY!

I know this isn't the best picture but it was the only one I had of all of us :)  We had so much fun and definitely need to plan more nights like this!

Thursday morning I had to run errands and get my mother's day shopping done.  Thursday was the last day for finals so after everyone who still had exams finished, we met up on Brits rooftop for some afternoon drinking.  We lucked out with gorgeous weather.  This was the same place we first went for drinks at the beginning of law school three years ago :)

Some of my all time favorites

Just the girls

After spending the afternoon at Brits, we headed to News Room for dinner and ended the night at Barrio.  The next morning, Shorty, Kinz, Jenny, and I met to pamper ourselves.  We got our nails done for graduation.  Tyler also spoiled me by arranging a couple's massage that afternoon.  A girl could get used to this kind of treatment :)

My school rented out the second floor of Stella's in uptown for Friday night so there was more food, drinks and celebrating for the class of 2012.  I was very glad that graduation wasn't until 1pm so I could sleep in the next morning.  Celebrating is exhausting!  I woke up to a surprise from my amazing husband: Bagels and coffee, a beautiful orchid (hopefully I can keep it alive) and a gorgeous watch!  He has set pretty high standards for me next year when we celebrate his graduation from Dental School.

 Gifts from my hubby

Tyler wanted to write the post from my actual graduation so I will leave that for him.  But, for those of you who keep asking me, "what are you going to do with all your time off?"  Here is your answer:

Study materials for the bar exam

I am going to memorize ALL of this in the next two months.  Starting Monday, the celebrating is over and the real studying begins.

Dark Side of the Lens

"Cameras help me translate, interpret and understand what I see. It's a simple act that keeps me grinning. I never set out to become anything in particular. Only to live creatively, and push the scope of my experience through adventure, and through passion. That's still all that means something to me, same as most anyone with dreams. My heart bleeds Celtic blood and I'm magnetized to familiar frontiers."

Happy May Day and Law Day!

Did you know that May Day is an ancient Northern Hemisphere festival celebrating the fertility of spring?

Also...

President Eisenhower declared May 1st to be Law Day in the United States to reflect on the role of law in the foundation of our country and to recognize its importance for our society.
