Mikkel, Dave and I drove down to Kenyon, MN for one last attempt at the MN archery season. Dave sat in a tree stand a couple of miles from the ground blind Mikkel and I sat in. Mikkel and I had 6 deer (does and fawns) come out into the field we were hunting for about an hour before sunset. We watched them for 45 minutes or so but they never came within 50 yards. Here's a short video of the hunt...
Dave saw a doe within 20 minutes of getting in his tree stand but never had a good enough shot. I know all three of us are already excited about next year. Time to focus on ice fishing and skiing for the next few months!
Returned home from Cass lake in the early afternoon. My dental school buddy Mikkel invited me up to spearfish with him and his high school friends. Mikkel was right when he said it would be a "true adventure." To make a long story short, something decidedly valuable was dropped down the 4 by 3 foot hole we were fishing out of on Saturday and the owner of the object proceeded to dive into the 35 degree-ish water attempting to reclaim it. Unfortunately, the attempts were unsuccessful but we have a few new stories to tell out of the whole ordeal. I made a short video...
I thought the fishing was great, maybe because it was my first time spearfishing. I speared two
little pike and Mikkel got one also. I have a few photos of the fish below.
The weather was perfect, above 30 degrees.
Overall, the weekend was fantastic. Meeting new people and making new friends is always such a gratifying experience as is trying something you've never done.
Also, Kristin (and Gabbi) has been studying her butt off all week so good
luck to her on her upcoming finals this week!
Kristin ordered this coffee the other day at school. The company Brotherhood, Inc. was designed and organized by one of the law clinics at the University of St. Thomas to eventually be handed over to African american youth and young men. The hope is that participants will be able to strengthen their life, financial management and business skills by taking part in this entrepreneurship. You can read more on their website ( http://brotherhoodmn.org/home ) and maybe order some coffee!
I love a good ski video. Last year it was the Salomon Freeski TV-Mica Heli video. This year the JP Auclair street segment has me watching non-stop! Enjoy.
