Baby Visitors

We were flooded with visitors immediately after our little peanut arrived.  Everyone wanted to come out to meet her ASAP and we were thankful that our family took the time to come.  My parents waited to book their flight until after Meredith arrived.  They flew in on Wednesday morning (Meredith was 4 days old) and we picked them up from the airport on our way to Meredith's doctor's appointment.  The doctor had made us take her in both Tuesday and Wednesday to check her weight because she had lost more weight than they were comfortable with.  On Wed. she had stopped losing so we got the okay to wait until her two week check up to go back in.

Meredith meeting Grandpa and Grandma Busch :)

My poor parents....my dad was recovering from bronchitis and my mom ended up feeling under the weather on the second day of their visit.  They each had to avoid holding Meredith on some days and we did a lot of hand washing and sanitizing around our house.  Tyler and I were paranoid of Meredith catching anything at some a young age.  Tyler even brought home face masks for them to wear when they held her!  Luckily, my parents were super careful and Meredith didn't catch anything.

My parents were amazingly helpful.  They understood that we wanted our time with Meredith as well and found other ways to help while we were hogging our baby.  They went on multiple grocery store trips and helped prepare and clean up after every meal.  They also cleaned our entire house from top to bottom before they left.

We went out to eat once while my parents were here but otherwise we stayed at home and did a lot of relaxing since we were all recovery.

My parents flew home on Tuesday and my sister, Danielle, and her fiancé flew in on Wednesday.  We picked D and Aaron up from the airport and headed to Wilmington for a stop at Ironclad Brewery and a quick car tour of downtown.  Danielle and Aaron hadn't been to Wilmington before so it was hard to not be able to show them around all of our favorite places.  They didn't seem to mind though!

We played, watched the march madness games, ate at Daddy Macs and Danielle and Aaron treated us to a taco night.

Tyler caught us fixing our hair before a picture.

Brunch at 9 Bakery and Lounge

We were sad to take Danielle and Aaron to the airport.  They were such great house guests!  We took them to the airport after an early brunch and then had the rest of the day Saturday and Sunday morning to ourselves before picking up Tyler's mom.

 Grandma Nae

Meredith got a lot of snuggles in with her Grandma Nae.  Renee and Tyler took turns preparing dinners.  I do have to say that the plus side to all the visitors is all the help!

We pretty much just hung out at our house with Renee besides a stop to my office to check on some clients and introduce Meredith to my coworkers.  I think I was still recovering from all our other visitors!  Renee flew out early Thursday morning and our next visitors, my sister's family, arrived late afternoon.  We were pretty run down at this point but were so excited to see our niece, Evelyn!

Cousins meeting for the first time

Evelyn was adorable.  If Meredith would make a noise, Evelyn would imitate her.  Tyler and I had so much fun playing with her.  I can't wait to watch these two little beauties grow up together.

Evelyn testing out Meredith's high chair.  She approved ;)  It actual worked out really nice that we had all our baby stuff that we don't need yet for Evelyn to use.  Ev slept in the nursery and we just grabbed some diapers and wipes for our room (Meredith sleeps in our room right now).

Our many attempts to get pictures of the two littles together.  We had to be careful of getting them too close because Evelyn would grab at Meredith.  I love the clapping picture.  After Meredith was born we facetimed Stacy and Chris and when Evelyn saw her new baby cousin she started clapping!

 We planned to match <3

We had to make a trip to the ocean so Evelyn could see it!  She was so cute! She loved curling her little toes in the sand.  She wanted to sit down and play in it but it was cold and messy of course!

We are so anxious to live closer to family!

Stacy and Chris were so helpful with grocery shopping, meal prep and clean up.  Especially since Meredith was going through a growth spurt when they were here and had a few 2-3 hour long feedings!  We had almost two weeks off before Tyler's dad and Suzanne arrived to meet their granddaughter.

We had a great time with Doug and Suzanne.  We took turns cooking and ate out at Daddy Macs a few times. Meredith is a regular already.  It is the only restaurant on the ocean that is right by us so it is a visitor favorite if we stay in Surf City.  We also were able to celebrate Doug's birthday with him!

As much as we loved having visitors, it was a lot to have constant house guests for the first month of our baby's life! We selfishly want all the snuggles to ourselves!  We are so thankful that our baby is so loved and that so much of our family could come out.  Meredith has no idea how lucky she is to be born into our extended families.  She has the best grandparents and aunts and uncles ever!
