3 Years!

Majorly late on this post but Tyler and I celebrated our anniversary in May.  Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary to Us! Time sure does go fast. We make an effort to make anniversaries and birthdays a big deal. Because why wouldn't we? So we knew we wanted to do something special for three years and it really was perfect.  We planned on going on a long weekend trip but after a busy winter/spring of trips and visitors, we decided on a shorter trip.

On our actual anniversary, I came home from work to roses, wine, a candle, a card, and my husband making me a fantastic dinner.

The following weekend, we spent two days exploring the outer banks.  We drove up a few hours and then caught the ferry to Ocracoke Island.

Ocracoke is the cutest little island.  We spent a few hours driving around checking everything out, grabbed lunch and checked out the beaches.

We definitely plan to go back.  From Ocracoke Island, we took another ferry to Hatteras Island.  We stopped to check out and climb the lighthouse.  Cape Hatteras is the tallest brick lighthouse in the U.S.  The views from the top were awesome but the pictures really don't do it any justice.

Also on our drive we stopped for fudge and ice cream - I have a huge sweet tooth! - and were able to see the house from the Nights of Rodanthe movie.

Another beach stop and checking out all the sand dunes.

Since we had already checked out two lighthouses, we also stopped to see the Bodie Island lighthouse.

We arrived in Kill Devil Hills, checked into our hotel and found a great place for dinner.  We ate at the Outer Banks Brewing Station, which also happens to be the very first wind powered brewery in the U.S.

Our hotel was right on the beach so we enjoyed coffee on our patio before going on a long walk and then having breakfast overlooking the ocean as well.

Afterwards, we checked out the Wright brothers museum.

Drinks and pizza

The last stop on our list was Jockey's Ridge State Park, which had the largest sand dunes I have ever seen.  It was quite the hike to get to the top of some of the mounds.

Such an incredible trip away with Tyler.  We definitely need to plan another adventure soon.
