Bayfield Wedding Weekend

Although we are both on break, we have been going NON-STOP!  We got home from our trip on a Friday night, had a wedding on Sat. and then golfed all day on Sunday.  Monday was a sleeping and laundry day. Tuesday we went to the state fair and then I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks to catch up.  Wednesday was a cleaning day and then I picked up one of my best friends, Alicia, from the airport (she just moved to CO).  On Thursday we went out to the lake to meet up with one of our other bestest friends, Sara, who has been living abroad since she graduated undergrad.  Sara's boyfriend from Germany, Jasper, also came for his first visit to Minnesota.  Tyler and I really like him and really like Sara and Jasper as a couple.  We took him out on the boat and went to Lord Fletchers for dinner.  At dinner we found out that Jasper has never had a smore so when we got back to the house, we had to have a bonfire and made some.

Friday morning, my parents picked us up to head up to Bayfield, WI for my cousin's wedding.  It was a long drive but we broke it up with a lunch stop.  When we arrived, we checked into the hotel, booked a kayaking trip, and headed to the patio of the hotel to say hi to everyone.  Then my family went into Bayfield to check out the town.

That night we went back to the patio and had some drinks with the whole wedding group.  We ended up going in my aunt and uncle's suite at the end because it got colder at night.

The next morning, Tyler, my mom, Danielle, Aaron and I headed to Bayfield to catch the ferry for Madeline Island.  We found our kayak place and got dropped off at the Town's park.  I don't have any pictures from kayaking because they were all on my mom's camera and I am not even sure if any of them turned out that well, but we all LOVED it.  We kayak along the beach and then made it to the state park where there were cliffs and sea caves :)  We were going inside them, Aaron and Tyler hiked up some cliffs, and Tyler did some cliff jumping.  The water was sooo clear and we could see to the bottom for most of the trip.  In all we kayaked for around 3 hours!  Afterwards we made our way back to the ferry, grabbed sandwiches quick and got back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding quick.

This is a pic Tyler took of another kayaker during our hike the next day

The wedding was really beautiful and the weather was perfect (record breaking weather).  The ceremony was outside, followed by the social hour outside.  We moved inside for dinner and the dance.

The whole family :)

The next morning, Danielle and Aaron had to leave to get back to school and work (yes, on labor day!)  The rest of us went up to Meyer's Beach to hike and see more sea caves.  Afterwards, we had lunch in Bayfield and then jumped back on the ferry to Madeline Island.  My parents met up with some of their friends while Tyler and I took the rest of the group back to the state park where he had cliff jumped.  We also climbed down into one of the sea caves so everyone could see it from the water.

And the cliff jumping....

We jumped from around 15 feet which was the highest one there.  Brandon, Stacy, my cousin Mike, and Chris all jumped too.  It was especially impressive for Chris to jump because he never learned how to swim as a child.

Afterwards we dried off and made our way to the burnt down bar to meet up with my parents.

This bar has burnt down a few times and they never rebuilt it.  My parents LOVED it and said it reminded them of Key West.

Right when we arrived, an Irish band was just getting started.

We caught a ferry back to Bayfield and since we were already wet, Tyler, Stacy & Chris and I filled a cooler with beer and went down to the outdoor hot tub.  We ate a really late dinner at the hotel snack bar and then I decided I would try my luck in the casino.  I lost $20 really quickly on a stupid "deal or no deal" machine and that ended my gambling.

Monday morning we all slept in and made the long drive home.  We stopped for lunch and ice cream and I slept most of the way.  Monday night we had fantasy football drafts.  Tyler went to his friend's house to draft with his dental school friends while I drafted for both of us in an online draft with some of our family members.  This is my second year doing fantasy football and also the first year in a long time where I can enjoy football season so I am excited! (no studying!)

Tuesday was a sleep and laundry day for me.  Tyler started clinic again so I am all by my lonesome until I start work.  Wednesday I pulled weeds all morning (which I am actually sore from), ran some errands and then Sara and Jasper came over to grill out.  Jasper heads back to Europe on Monday but fortunately Sara gets to stay here through September and work remotely.  We have a busy weekend ahead of us full of birthdays and football so more on that in the next post!
