Friendsgiving and Nov. Recap

No wonder I feel like I couldn't catch up....in a month's time we road tripped to DC, had back-to-back visitors, Tyler flew back to MN to hunt for 5 days, and we topped it off with yet another road trip to Columbus, OH for Thanksgiving!  When we weren't traveling, we worked (yes, still squeezed that in), I spoke at an estate planning seminar at my church and attended multiple networking events, we squeezed in more dinners with friends, girls nights and holiday festivities.  Right when I feel like I am almost caught up, I am starting to pack for another big trip back to Minnesota!

First off - Tyler's trip to MN.  I seriously don't know how single parents and spouses of deployed military do it.  Meredith was perfect and we were out and about with friends but even when everything goes smoothly, doing it all alone is exhausting!

Sending daddy selfies while we waiting for Mer's flu shot.

Tyler was able to spend some time with his family while in MN.

 Yay! Daddy's home!

We road tripped to Ohio to spend Thanksgiving with our very good friends, Judd and Bente.  Tyler and Judd have met up at a bachelor party and wedding but Bente and I hadn't seen each other or the boys since Bente and Judd's wedding the summer before (16 months).  Judd and Bente both work crazy hours, some weekends and are on call a lot so when Bente let us know that they were available, we immediately planned our trip.

Bente prepared the most amazing feast for us!  Tyler and I only contributed an apple pie we made the night before our big trip.

The trip took us 12 1/2 hours on the way there (stopping at a hotel for the night) and 13 1/2 hours on the way home in one day.  We had lots of traffic and stops for Meredith.  Although it was long, Meredith did awesome!  We planned our stops way smarter this trip and made sure to stop on schedule to feed Meredith.  When Meredith was awake, I sat in the back with her and rotated through her toys.  When she was sleeping, Tyler and I listened to an audio book.

For some reason my phone pictures were all blurry :(

 Seriously delicious!

Spending Thanksgiving with these friends was the next best thing to family.  We are so thankful for them!

On Friday we went to the Columbus zoo.  After, we were able to meet up with some of our Navy friends, who now live in Columbus, for dinner.

It was so great to see this family! We really miss having them in North Carolina with us.  It was also great that we were able to see Cliff's new dental practice.

We spent the rest of the night having drinks and playing games after we put Meredith to bed.  Saturday, we went to brunch in the morning and then had some appetizers and watched the gopher-badger football game.  Only one of us was happy with the outcome.  I think it was because I forgot Meredith's gopher gear!

Sunday morning, Judd and Bente made us a great breakfast before we hit the road.

Our only group shot and again blurry - my dang phone!

We always have so much fun with these two.  We are sad that we don't know when we will see them next.  Hopefully it won't be another year and a half!

The next week, we kicked off December with our town's Christmas tree lighting, Christmas PJs all day long, decorations and way too much chocolate!
