Thanksgiving in the Mountains

We try to take advantage of traveling over long weekends so for Thanksgiving this year we decided to head back to the mountains and were so excited when our friends, Lauren and Michael, decided to join us!  We rented a cabin in Canton, a little ways outside of Asheville and had the best time. Our friends, Becca and Patrick, were there as well but stayed right in downtown.

Becca, Lauren, and I planned out our thanksgiving meal in advance and we had the HUGEST feast.

We drove Wednesday night and Thursday, Michael and Lauren stayed at the cabin to prepare the turkey while we all headed to Biltmore.  This was our third trip to Biltmore and we have loved it every time but this time was extra fun because the castle was decorated for Christmas and we did the rooftop tour so we were able to take in the most incredible views and hear additional stories and facts about the estate.  Excuse the Biltmore estate picture overload!

Meredith loved running around the front grass area.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner at our cabin.  Below pictures are from the deck.

The next morning, we went hiking at Waterrock Knob and the views were amazing. I love the Blue Ridge mountains.  I could spend every weekend here.

That night we went to dinner at the Wicked Weed Brewery.  The next day we went on another hike but it was so cold and cloudy that we didn't get the views that we had hoped for.

Our last night we went back to Asheville and stopped Catawba Brewery, grabbed dinner at Buxton Hall, then made stops at Green Man Brewery and Funkatorium.

Sunday morning, we packed and cleaned before getting on the road.  Tyler and I decided to make a stop for one more hike - Catawba Falls - on our way home.
